It has become quite commonplace for schools to take photographs of children whilst in their care, i.e., at an event, for training or accreditation purposes, for use in a child’s profile or by professional photographers for fund raising and press coverage of an event. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, parental consent is required to take these photographs (including the use of video cameras).
Each year a form is sent out to parents asking for permission. The form will stipulate whether photographs will only be taken within the school and/or at external venues. It also includes a question regarding photographs on our website.
If you as a parent do NOT sign the agreement we will ensure that photographs of your child are NOT taken.
Just a reminder that parents should not post pictures of pupils other than their own children on social networking sites where these pictures have been taken at a school event.
This policy was adopted on 1st November 2007 and will be reviewed annually.
